How to Read an ICICI Bank Statement

ConvertStatement Team·

ICICI Bank is the second largest private bank in India. Its statement format is consistent and well-organized once you know the column definitions.

Column definitions

ICICI uses: Transaction Date, Value Date, Description, Cheque Number, Amount, and Balance. Unlike SBI and HDFC which use separate Debit and Credit columns, ICICI uses a single Amount column with positive values for credits and negative values for debits in its Excel format. The PDF shows them without the sign, so use the balance column to determine direction.

The Description field

ICICI descriptions are detailed. For UPI transactions, the format is "UPI/[reference]/[recipient name]/[bank]." For salary NEFT credits, it shows "NEFT INB [company name]-[sender account]." For internal ICICI transfers, it shows "INF TRNS [reference]."

Quarterly interest and TDS

ICICI credits savings interest quarterly. Look for entries with "INTEREST CREDIT" in the description. If TDS is deducted on savings interest (applicable when total interest exceeds Rs 40,000 per year for regular customers or Rs 50,000 for seniors), you will see a corresponding "TDS ON INTEREST" debit.

ICICI ECS and auto-pay entries

Recurring auto-payments through ICICI show as "NACH DR [company name]" for National Automated Clearing House debits. Credit card bill auto-pay shows as "CCOD [last 4 digits of card]." Standing Instructions show as "SI [description]."
